ARBCBS Paying Arkansas Pharmacists to Collect A1cs

Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield (ABCBS) is partnering with Outcomes to send diabetes interventions (TIPs) to pharmacies in Arkansas. By completing recommended diabetes-related interventions and Hemoglobin A1c testing TIPs in Outcomes, pharmacists can improve diabetes control for ABCBS ARHOME, Exchange, and Medicare patients with uncontrolled diabetes.

Medical billing is approved for A1c test results collected at the pharmacy for ABCBS ARHOME and Exchange patients. A value-based payment is also available for pharmacists that help patients achieve a controlled A1c. ABCBS wants to encourage all pharmacists to join their patients on a journey to greater understanding and control of diabetes.
